Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services is currently recruiting for a Commercial Contracts Manager to work for a global leader in energy technology.
The Role:
As a Commercial Contracts Manager, you will serve as the strategic "backbone" of a rapidly growing team dedicated to the global sale and delivery of the business’s products. Positioned within the Project Management function, you will act as the vital liaison between our international factories and a demanding global customer base.
This is a unique, high-impact opportunity as the first dedicated contracts specialist within this specific business unit. You will manage a diverse portfolio of contracts ranging from high-volume spare parts to complex agreements valued up to £1.6 million. Your primary mission is to protect the commercial interests of the business while maintaining excellent relationships across the supply chain, from manufacturing hubs in Germany to project teams in Bucharest, Ireland, and the UK.
This role is for a proactive self-starter who can navigate a busy, multi-interface environment. You will provide the contractual expertise - underpinned by a background in Quantity Surveying or Construction/Energy contracts (FIDIC) - necessary to protect the business’s commercial interests while ensuring seamless service delivery worldwide.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the PM & CPM in identifying, evaluating and assessing risks & opportunities
- Takes ownership and administers subcontracts on a day-to-day basis - internal
- Manages subcontract / supplier final account settlements
- Ensures timely submission of contractual notifications
- Provides timely updates to the PM & CPM on the accurate financial status, including forecast out-turn position, of Project subcontractors / key supplier accounts
- Attends Project meetings with Site, Customer, stakeholders
- Takes ownership and management of Project Change Management and Claims, relating to both the main Contract with our Customers and our subcontractors / key suppliers
- Collaborates and effectively communicates with the wider Project team, giving contractual advice relative to the successful execution of the Project
- Supports the procurement department by advising on and drafting contractual terms and conditions for the placement of Project Subcontract work packages
- Liaises with our legal team, reviewing and evaluating terms and conditions aligned to our main customer contracts
- Identifying, evaluating and following up on all events relevant for incoming and outgoing claims / compensation events
- Collecting, preparing, analysing and managing relevant claim / variation particulars for the preparation and drafting, or defence, of submissions to / from our Customers and subcontractors / key suppliers, in line with contract timescales
- Provides contractual advice and support to our Project teams regarding the effective execution of customer contracts and subcontracts
- Pursuing and / or defending incoming and outgoing claims; including the collation of relevant project records, documentation and appropriate evidence / facts, through to satisfactory conclusion
- Establishing and substantiating cause and effect necessary to demonstrate entitlement to quantum and / or additional time under the Contract
- Actively builds positive relationships with our Customer
- Proactively seeks to implement and assist with digital solutions to aid efficient execution of Project duties
- Developing and improving contract and claim management processes and strategies
Key Skills and experience required:
- Experience in Quantity Surveying / Contract Management and/or commercial project management / business administration
- Knowledge and familiarity with a variety of Construction and Engineering Forms of Contract; in particular extensive experience with the NEC Contract, FIDIC
- Experience in project budgeting, financial management of risk, opportunities and claims
- Chartered Quantity Surveyor would be advantageous (RICS / CICES)
- Competent in Claim Management
- Commercially Competent including understanding the principles of contract law
- Competent in working collaboratively and cooperatively with the project
- Competent negotiator
