Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services is currently recruiting for an NDT Inspector to work for Siemens Energy, a leading global energy technology company. 

 

Role Overview:

Within the Gas Services Distributed business at Siemens Energy, you will independently perform NDT and dimensional inspections on components for gas and steam turbines, often in collaboration with suppliers. This is a newly created, high-impact role (the first of four) where you will act as the technical authority at vendor sites.

Your primary responsibility is to travel to a specific set of suppliers (including sand-blasting and casting businesses) across the UK and Europe to perform "second-check" inspections before products are shipped to our factories. Your duties will include conducting inspections in line with specifications, as well as technically and formally reviewing the accompanying documentation. Should you identify any deviations from supplier results, you will be responsible for clearly describing these discrepancies in technical terms, effectively communicating them, and coordinating further actions with the cross-departmental team.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

• Quality Assurance: Responsibility for the preparation, execution, and follow-up of non-destructive tests on gas and steam turbine components as an added layer of inspection beyond the supplier's own checks.
• Supplier Development: Supplier qualification, development, and active participation in the quality improvement of suppliers and purchased parts (specifically across Sheffield, Scunthorpe, and the Central Midlands).
• Preventative Strategy: Avoiding quality problems by developing preventive measures and SQM methods for suppliers to reduce defects at the source.
• Root Cause Analysis: Using methods for quality assurance to analyze the causes of defects and initiating appropriate corrective measures together with suppliers.
• Global Collaboration: Proactive collaboration with a global team and internal partners, including oversight of suppliers in Germany, Italy, and possibly China.

 

What You Bring:

• Technical Expertise: Experience in the castings industry (specifically SGI, steel, and alloys) or a dedicated casting inspections role.

• NDT Qualifications: Certified to ISO9712 (or similar) in VT, MT, PT, and UT. Level II is required, though candidates with a strong mix of these qualifications are encouraged to apply.

• Industry Background: Several years of relevant professional experience in the NDT of cast components. Experience with gas turbines is a plus, but not essential.

• Problem Solving: Profound knowledge in the application of quality methods such as 5 Why, FMEA, 8D, and RCA.

• Systems & Communication: A team player with good collaboration skills, fluent in English, and proficient in MS Office and SAP.

• Mobility: Full UK Driving License is a MUST. 

Travel & Flexibility:

• Location: While you can live anywhere in the UK, your base location will be Lincoln. You must be available to travel to the Lincoln site for regular meetings and collaboration with the Quality Engineering team.

• On the Road: This role requires up to 60% travel nationally and internationally.

• Hybrid Working: When not travelling to suppliers, we offer a hybrid model with 3 days in the office/base location.
